Founder’s Day is an amazing opportunity to reflect upon the last year, connect with alumnae, and remember our roots and the three amazing women that organized Delta Gamma on Christmas day in 1873. Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 virus, we are unable to celebrate as a chapter in person, but still take the day to reflect on what makes Delta Gamma unique to our members.
We take time to reflect and share with alumnae fun stories about their times in college and how different and similar they are today. One of my favorite stories came from Melanie Ard Bailey. During her senior year in 1986, she lived on the third floor with two other roommates. During finals week, many girls were playing harmless, funny pranks on each other. Melanie and her roommates left for a study break and, when they got back, all of their furniture was gone from their room. When they went on the front lawn, it was arranged exactly like it was in their room.
Along with fun stories, Founder’s Day is also a time to reflect on what makes Delta Gammaso special. Michelle Fourrier said that she chose Delta Gamma because of the similar values and life philosophies of other members and she made lifelong friendships.
We cannot wait to see what next semester holds in store for Gamma Zeta.
