The chapter of Gamma Zeta holds a significant place in the heart of each member. It is true that the women are what make it so great, as each one contributes their own special part to the chapter. As Thanksgiving approaches, the chapter reflects on what Delta Gamma means and why Gamma Zeta is special to them in this season.
At its core, Gamma Zeta encourages deep, fulfilling friendships, which live past the college years. These friendships begin with Gamma Zeta but are cherished for many years to follow.
When asked why she was grateful for Gamma Zeta, sophomore Brittney Nezat says “Through my time in Delta Gamma, I have met some of my best friends. The relationships I have formed with these girls will go beyond my years in college. I know that these girls will stand by my side and support me in my toughest times.”
Sophomore Dominique Perilloux says, “I am so thankful for Gamma Zeta because it has brought me so many new friendships that I am continuing to build. It has provided me with a support system for every aspect of life, so my college experience has been enhanced.”
Senior Ashley Accardo says, “I am thankful for Gamma Zeta because it has provided me with friendships that can withstand time and distance. I was able to stand in my Big's wedding this past October and I am standing in another sister's wedding in May. These are friendships that will last a lifetime and will support me in my lows and highs!”
Not only does Gamma Zeta provide rich friendships, but it provides a home when we most need it. Whether you’re from right down the road or 5 states away, 4080 West Lakeshore Drive will always have a place for you.
Junior Jamie Hanzo says, “I am grateful for the home. Although New Orleans is not that far away, I choose to stay in Baton Rouge to hang out with my sisters. Delta Gamma is a place that I feel I can fully be myself in all aspects. Someone is ALWAYS there and willing to help me if I need it.”
Freshman Makayla St. John says, “The Gamma Zeta chapter has given me a home away from home. I now always have someone to talk to when I need advice or just a friend to talk to.”
Senior Julia Laborde says, “I am grateful for Gamma Zeta because every good thing from my college experience happened because of Delta Gamma. I was able to meet DGs from the Baton Rouge area that introduced me to their family and friends, which made Baton Rouge a home away from home.”
Gamma Zeta has created an environment of growth. From creating connections, to providing role models, and just overall leadership skills learned, our chapter promotes each woman to be the best version of herself.
Senior Kate Rovira says, “I’m grateful for DG because of the people that it has given me the opportunity to meet! Some of the best people I've ever known, from all over the country, I met though being a part of this chapter. I can’t express enough how much I love DG for that!”
Sophomore Savannah Markham says, “The reason I am grateful for Gamma Zeta is because of all the spectacular women who are apart of our chapter. There are so many role models and great girls to look up to!”
Senior Olivia Givens says, “DG has given me the opportunity, love, and leadership skills that I will hold on to forever.”
Gamma Zeta is family.
Sophomore Abby Alonzo says, “Gamma Zeta is more than just a sorority. It’s a family. I lost my grandmother this week, and the first people to be at my side were my sisters. They cried with me. They picked me up. They got me moving forward. I will never forget how loved and supported this entire chapter makes me feel, and I’m so thankful to be a part of it.”
There is something that each woman sees special in Gamma Zeta that makes us so grateful for what it has given us. Whether it be friendships, a home, a family, motivation, or maybe a support system, each woman holds a special place in our chapter just as much as the chapter holds a special place for them.
