On October 3rd, 2019 Gamma Zeta held Big and Little reveal for our new member class of 2019! The Big Little relationship is something that Delta Gamma, especially our LSU chapter, values greatly.
Sophomore Kayla Sweeney says “Big and Little has been an important part of my faith life. My Big Tiffany invited me to be in her bible study before we were Big and Little, and that’s how we knew we wanted to be paired together. Tiffany is my bible study leader again, and I’m so excited to learn more from her, and what it means to be faithful!”
Sophomore Lindsay Horridge says “I’ve been an only child my whole life, so getting a Big was a huge deal to me. Not only did I get a Big, but I got a Twin too! I love having someone to look up to and someone to motivate me to be the best version of myself.”
Bigs uphold themselves as role models for younger women in the chapter and offer themselves as a support system and automatic connection to Delta Gamma.
Senior Julia Laborde says “When I got my Big I felt like I had this instant, built in friend. She was always checking on me to make sure my classes were going ok, cook me dinner if she knew I was having a tough week, and always included me in her plans.”
The impact of Big and Little is a mutual process. Littles have just as great as an impact on their Bigs as do Bigs on their Littles. This is something that is very unique to the Big and Little relationship in our chapter. The individual relationships that women make because of Big and Little are cherished not only for their time in Gamma Zeta, but for the rest of their lives.
Junior Fran DeVille says “My Little is always there for me to cheer me on in my successes but also a shoulder to cry on when need be. We have such an amazing bond, and I am so thankful that DG brought us together. She truly makes me strive to be a better person, and I look up to her even though I’m older.”
Outside of the Big and Little relationship, another aspect that makes our chapter so special is the connections between different member classes.
Freshman Rebecca Nabers says “I have already gained so many tips and opportunities through the older members of DG in the short time I have been in this sorority. It’s so great to always have people there who have been through many of the same things as me that are always eager to help.”
Sophomore Abby Alonzo says “The older women in the chapter are the reason I went DG. They helped me to make the best decision of my life by showing me who they are and what they are about. Older women have really had an impact on my character, and I feel as if I am truly doing more good due to their influence and encouragement to go out and spread love.”
Every woman in the chapter plays a role in the good that Delta Gamma shows to the world each day. The relationships we make between the women in our chapter are ones that promote us to “do good” every day and motivate us to be the best version of ourselves. Big and Little is such a special time, and we can’t wait to see the future of these relationships in our chapter!
