Madison Cory

Meet MAdison!

VP: Social Standards

I chose Delta Gamma because of the big anchor I saw when the doors opened on preference round. When I was 16, in honor of my aunt who was very sick at the time, I got a tattoo which was an anchor on my right ankle. Spring semester of my senior year of high school, my aunt passed away. Not knowing anything about recruitment before she passed she encouraged me to go out of my comfort zone and rush! So, in the Fall of 2021, I went through recruitment, and I had no idea what I was doing but I was just being myself and believing what my aunt wished for me to do. So on preference round, not knowing from the previous rounds, my anxious freshman college girl self was calmed with peace when I saw an anchor because I knew this would be more than a sorority to me.

What's your major?

Kinesiology with hopes to pursue nursing school after I graduate!

If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

If I could live anywhere, I would live in Florida! I love to run and I love the beach and the atmosphere and combining the two just makes everything better! Although, Australia would be a cool place to live in!

What is your dream job?

My dream job would be to be a famous country singer and dancer! (I can't do either of those things, but that's the dream aspect, haha!)

What's your favorite television show/series?

Friends! I can quote any episode from any season, I definitely have an addiction problem to the show.

Favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge?

My favorite seafood restaurant in Baton Rouge is  Sammy's Grill or The Chime's. My favorite tex-mex place is Superior on Highland.

What's your favorite DG event?

My favorite DG event is Paint Your Date because it is such a unique event and the overall atmosphere nothing can compare!

What's your favorite part about your position?

My favorite part about being Vp: Social Standards, is getting to know everyone on such a personal level. I love knowing that I am making a difference when someone feels so comfortable with entrusting me with anything and everything they are going through. It is simply a blessing! An added bonus is I get to help plan our big special events!

Best piece of advice for a PM going through recruitment?

The biggest piece of advice I would give to a PNM going through recruitment is to take in the moment and enjoy it. Life is so short, and when four years pass you will wish you could do it all over again. Recruitment is stressful and it seems like life is over at times. Everything happens for a reason, stick with it, the good will come out of anything you put your all into!

If you could pick one word to describe your Delta Gamma sisters, what would it be and why?

One word to describe my Delta Gamma sisters is empathy. Empathy because my sister's of Delta Gamma are always accepting and never fail to brighten your day. The endless love they each share and the passion they have to encourage others and strive to be involved with our philanthropy is truly impactful and encouraging.  One thing they all have in common, is that they all motivate me to be a better me without them knowing!

What's your favorite television show/series?

Gilmore Girls

Favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge?

What's your favorite DG event?

What's your favorite part about your position?

My favorite part of being vp: programming is that I get to interact with all parts of our chapter and work with my directors to put on sisterhood events that everyone will enjoy! I love being able to work to enhance the sisterhood aspect of our chapter.

Best piece of advice for a PM going through recruitment?

Go in with an open mind. I was a legacy to a different house when going through recruitment. This really narrowed my point of view and did not allow me to enjoy the full experience. Trust the process and know that everything works out exactly how it’s supposed to!

If you could pick one word to describe your Delta Gamma sisters, what would it be?

Family. Going to college was my first time being away from home, and my sisters give me a home away from home. They make me feel loved and like I can be completely myself.

Letter from the President

Letter from the President

Hey y’all!

My name is Sarah Cherry, and I have the privilege of serving as Delta Gamma’s 2021 chapter president at LSU. I grew up in Reno, Nevada, but decided to attend LSU for the rich culture and amazing school spirit that Baton Rouge has to offer. I am a rising senior studying Biological Sciences with minors in Psychology and Business Administration. I am so honored and humbled to be leading such phenomenal women who strive for excellence in scholarship, leadership, and friendship.

Hailey Renton

Meet Hailey!

VP : Member Education

I chose DG because, during recruitment, I left every party at DG feeling confident in myself and what I had to offer to this sisterhood. Going into recruitment being out-of-state, I was incredibly intimidated and did not know an ounce of information about sorority recruitment. Compared to other houses, DG made my experience feel less like recruitment and more like catching up with friends I’ve known for years. I continue to love DG more and more every day because of the unconditional love and assistance I receive from my sisters.

What's your major?

Biology major, Pre-medicine

If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

I would live on Maui because I love warm weather and the peaceful environment of the island and their people.

What is your dream job?

What's your favorite television show/series?

My favorite TV show/ series is Game of Thrones or From Scratch

Favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge?

Elsie's plate & pie!!

What's your favorite DG event?

PYD or Cheesies with the Deegees

What's your favorite part about your position?

My favorite part of my position is being able to maintain the unique traditions of our sisterhood and being a part of the new member process to welcome our new members into what I consider my home away from home.

Best piece of advice for a PM going through recruitment?

My best advice is to stay as open-minded as you can be, do not let people sway your decision, and choose the house that you know will push you to be the best version of yourself.

If you could pick one word to describe your Delta Gamma sisters, what would it be and why?

Steadfast - My delta gamma sisters have been there to hold me up when I was at my weakest and have pushed me when I thought I couldn't achieve my goals. My sisters create a safe space for me to be my true self and have never made me feel out of place .I never feel alone when I am with my sisters and I know that our unwavering bond will last a lifetime.

Sara Kitchen

Meet SARa!

VP: Membership

Choosing Delta Gamma was not because of any singular reason, nor a culmination of reasons; it was simply a gut-instinct. I knew that no other chapter would have had the ability to allow me the space to grow, to lead, to be my most true self. The girls here are my everything and I continue to choose them daily.

What's your major?

If you could live anywhere, where would it be and why?

What's your favorite television show/series?

Normal People

Favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge?

New York Bagel

What's your favorite DG event?

Paint your Date!!

What's your favorite part about your position?

The best part about being VP: membership is the fact that I am able to interact with each member of my chapter to listen to and better their membership experience. I even get to form these same relationships with the PNMs coming through recruitment and it is increasingly rewarding to have such a large impact on both active and potential members.

Best piece of advice for a PM going through recruitment?

The piece of advice that helped me the most during recruitment was to choose a house that felt like home. While this may seem extremely vague, it helped me because I was so worried about finding the house that was fun, allowed me to lead others, was kind, etc. I saw different qualities in each house I walked into, so choosing the quality I valued most was where I struggled. Now being involved in the Panhellenic community for 3 years, I can confidently say that each chapter has each of these qualities; every chapter is fun, has leadership opportunities, and is kind. Thus, you must choose the house where you are most relaxed and feel yourself since the other qualities are uniform down the row.

If you could pick one word to describe your Delta Gamma sisters, what would it be?

One word to describe my Delta Gamma sisters is fulfilling. They continue to fill my cup each day because they want to, and having relationships like this with other women is incomparable.

Going into recruitment, I knew I was looking for a group of women who loved to serve their community and each other side by side. I wanted a place that would allow me to grow and push me to be the best version of myself. Delta Gamma went above and beyond these expectations. I met women who inspire me to be better to this day, and even after only talking to them for a short time during recruitment, I knew that I could always count on them to be by my side.Going into recruitment, I knew I was looking for a group of women who loved to serve their community and each other side by side.
